During the Covid19 period a whatsapp group was set up in our street and this group quickly got very busy. At the same time my commercial work went very quiet for a period. It seemed like a good moment to get to know the neighbours a bit better – safely, from the other side of the glass.

Two years later, in the summer of 2022 I revisited these same people, but inside their houses to make a more intimate and colourful portrait.

I then made a print for them with both images on there and asked them to reflect and write or draw their thoughts and feelings onto the artwork

Getting To Know the Neigbours was also made into a publication which won an honourable mention at the 2024 Encontros da Imagem festival in Braga, Portugal.
